West Ham in Talks with Julen Lopetegui as David Moyes Expected to Depart

West Ham United is currently in the process of narrowing down their options for a new manager, with David Moyes expected to leave the club this summer. According to sources, the club has held talks with former Real Madrid and Spain manager Julen Lopetegui, who has impressed senior figures at the club with his track record.

Rúben Amorim, who confirmed last month that he had discussions about potentially taking over from Moyes, is also in the mix. Despite Lopetegui being considered the frontrunner at the moment, Amorim has not been completely ruled out as a candidate for the role.

Tensions within the club have reportedly escalated, leading to the technical director Tim Steidten being asked to stay away from Moyes and the first-team squad. This move comes as interviews for Moyes’ successor are ongoing, indicating a potential change in management sooner than anticipated.

As West Ham sits in ninth place in the Premier League, Moyes and his team are gearing up to face challenging matches against Chelsea, Luton Town, and Manchester City in their final three games of the season. Moyes, who returned for a second stint as manager in 2019, notably secured the club’s first trophy in over four decades by winning the Europa Conference League last year.

West Ham’s search for a new manager is heating up as negotiations with Julen Lopetegui and Rúben Amorim are underway. The looming departure of David Moyes and the club’s recent successes have created an atmosphere of change and anticipation at London Stadium. Only time will tell who will take the reins and lead West Ham into the future.
