The Threat of England in the European Championship Final

The Threat of England in the European Championship Final

Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has warned of the threat carried by England ahead of Sunday’s European Championship final in Berlin. He acknowledges that Spain has had a better run in the tournament so far, with six wins out of six matches, including victories against strong teams like Croatia, Italy, hosts Germany, and France.

Spain and England have taken different paths to the final. While Spain has been in excellent form, England was criticized for their performances in the group stage. England’s victory over the Netherlands was only their second win in normal time, as they needed extra-time to beat Slovakia and penalties against Switzerland.

De la Fuente acknowledges the quality of England’s players, who have the ability to turn the game around at any moment. Despite doubts about their performances, players like Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and Bukayo Saka have made crucial contributions throughout the tournament.

This final will mark the first time Spain and England have faced each other in a major tournament since Euro 1996. The last meeting between the two teams was in 2018, where England emerged victorious with a 3-2 win in the UEFA Nations League.

Spain has no new fitness issues ahead of the final, with Alvaro Morata expected to lead the line despite a minor scare during celebrations after the France win. However, Pedri and Ayoze Perez are both sidelined with injuries. Defenders Dani Carvajal and Robin Le Normand will return from suspension for the final.

De la Fuente is aware of the challenge England poses but is optimistic about Spain’s chances in the final. He believes that Spain’s performance in the tournament so far does not guarantee success in a one-off game. The Spanish team is eager to continue growing and fighting for the trophy.

The European Championship final between Spain and England promises to be a thrilling encounter. While Spain has been in excellent form, England’s quality players and fighting spirit make them a formidable opponent. Both teams will be looking to give their all in pursuit of European glory.
