Kylian Mbappé bid adieu to Paris Saint-Germain with a grand celebration at Gigi, an upscale Italian restaurant near Paris’ Champs Élysées. The party, attended by approximately 250 guests, including his close family, friends, and PSG teammates, was organized to mark his departure from the club. During the event, Mbappé’s mother and agent, Fayza Lamari, dropped a major hint about his future, suggesting that he will be moving to Real Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window.
It is no secret that Mbappé has already confirmed his departure from PSG when his contract expires at the end of the season. Sources close to the player have indicated that a move to Madrid is imminent, with plans for the transfer to be finalized after the Spanish giants’ Champions League final against Dortmund on June 1. Despite the upcoming move, Mbappé is reportedly still eager to represent France at the Paris Olympics, a decision that is not in alignment with Madrid’s preference for players to choose between international tournaments.
Apart from his mother, Mbappé’s father, Wilfried, and his younger brother, Ethan, were also in attendance at the farewell party. The event was graced by most of his PSG teammates, club staff, friends, and extended family. However, PSG manager Luis Enrique was notably absent from the celebration, possibly indicating a strained relationship with the young forward. There are also doubts looming over Mbappé’s participation in the upcoming French Cup final against Lyon, as his exclusion from the team in the final matches of the league season raises uncertainties about his role in the squad.
Although invitations were extended to French President Emmanuel Macron and PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi, neither dignitary made an appearance at the event. The absence of key figures from both the sporting and political realms suggests a possible rift or lack of interest in Mbappé’s departure from the club. Despite the lack of high-profile guests, the farewell party served as a poignant reminder of Mbappé’s significant contribution to PSG and the impending changes in his career as he gears up for a new chapter at Real Madrid.
