Former Real Madrid player Karim Benzema is currently receiving support from his former club in his recovery from a recurring injury. Al Ittihad, Benzema’s current club, confirmed the news that the 36-year-old has been struggling with muscular problems during his first season in the Saudi Pro League. Benzema, who joined Al Ittihad last summer as a free agent after spending 14 years at Real Madrid, has been sidelined after his last appearance in a 3-2 win at Al Hazm on April 20.
According to a statement released by Al Ittihad, Benzema is undergoing further examinations at Real Madrid’s clinic with his former doctor from Spain, who has been overseeing his care for years. The collaboration between Ittihad’s medical team and Real Madrid aims to address the injuries that have caused Benzema to miss critical matches this season. Benzema has already traveled to Spain for treatment and is expected to return next week.
Despite his injury setbacks, Benzema has managed to score 13 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for Al Ittihad. The recipient of the 2022 Ballon d’Or has a contract with the Saudi club until June 2026. Meanwhile, Real Madrid made a move to secure the future of Enzo Alves, the talented son of club legend Marcelo. Enzo, 14, has been a part of Madrid’s academy teams since 2017 and has impressed with 17 goals for the under-15 side this season. As a Spain U15 player, Enzo recently signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until June 2027.
Enzo expressed his joy at the contract extension in a post on Instagram, referring to Real Madrid as the best club in the world. His father, Marcelo, also took to social media to congratulate his son on this milestone achievement. The support and encouragement from the Madrid family showcase the bond between past and present players at the club, highlighting the unity and camaraderie that define the institution.
