In response to the racist abuse, Europe’s football governing body, UEFA, has the authority to take action if the incident occurred within the stadium precinct and if an official report has been filed. Despite the location of the chants being outside the stadium, LaLiga expressed its commitment to reporting the incident to the prosecutors’ office specializing in hate and discrimination crimes. This proactive stance is part of LaLiga’s broader mission to create a football environment free from hate, racism, homophobia, violence, and discrimination.
Vinícius Júnior, who has faced racist abuse throughout his five-year career in Spain, took to social media to address the incident and appeal to UEFA for action.
