There have been reports suggesting that Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is on the verge of joining West Ham United. This move is anticipated to pave the way for Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt to make their way to Old Trafford. According to a source, Wan-Bissaka missed out on the United squad for the Community Shield fixture against Manchester City due to this impending transfer. He is expected to undergo a medical examination with West Ham on Sunday.
Manager Erik ten Hag had hinted at a possible injury concern for Wan-Bissaka, but it seems that the real reason behind his absence was negotiations with West Ham. Sources have revealed that the 26-year-old is close to finalizing the move to the London club after initial discrepancies in personal terms. United have placed a value on Wan-Bissaka in the range of £15-20 million, with interest also coming in from Galatasaray.
Upon Wan-Bissaka’s transfer, Manchester United are expected to bring in De Ligt and Mazraoui from Bayern Munich. A deal in principle has been reached between the clubs, amounting to £60 million, including add-ons. The prospective deal includes a base payment of £51 million for the duo, with an additional £9 million linked to performance-related clauses. Both players are reportedly eager to make the move to Old Trafford, and personal terms are not expected to be a hindrance.
With the potential acquisitions of De Ligt, Mazraoui, Joshua Zirkzee, and Leny Yoro, Manchester United’s summer spending is likely to exceed £140 million. This hefty investment signifies the club’s ambition to strengthen their squad and compete at the highest level in domestic and European competitions. The incoming transfers are anticipated to bolster United’s defensive and attacking options, providing a boost to their ambitions for the upcoming season.
